VSC (Valencia 1950s)

The Alicante based company Vañó, Sánchez y Compañía S.A. (VSC) were a supplier of many different products and services to the area around Alicante and beyond.

In the early 1950s they produced a series of velomotors that were equiped with 48cc (39 mm x 40 mm) Cucciolo, four-stroke OHV, engines that produced circa 1.5 HP @ 5,250 RPM and incorporated 2 speeds.

The Cucciolo engine was originally produced by SIATA (Società Italiana per Applicazioni Tecniche Auto-Aviatorie) who also sold it to the public, but they could not meet the volume of demand for complete machines and the production of these was contracted out to Ducati, hence the Ducati Cucciolo.

This example of a VSC/Cucciolo 48cc is a first series example and is in the Familia Mercado Collection who kindly supplied the photographs.
