Soler (Bassella 1954)

In 1950s Spain, motorcycles for children were very rare.  This is a unique machine and was hand built by Mario Soler in 1954 for his children, Estanis and Toni.  The bike was built at Bassella and incorporated an IRESA, (Industrias Reunidas Espanolas, SA) 53cc, two stroke engine.

Mario Soler (1907-1991) was a motorcycle and mechanics fan, who for many years, restored many bikes in his small workshop in Bassella. He was one of the first collectors and his family were behind the creation of the Museu Moto Bassella where, appropriately enough, the Soler Rapido is on display.
