SecoVega (Zaragoza 1954-1957)

Talleres Mecánicos SV (SecoVega) was a small workshop that had been engaged in traditional sheet metalworking skills since 1952 and had entered the transport sector with the manufacture of sidecars. The Seco Vega came from the surnames of the original founders of the company.  The ESEUVE in Spanish is not a standard dictionary word. It’s the phonetic spelling of the letters “S” and “V” (ese‑uve) and many Spanish businesses have adopted ESEUVE as a trade name, because it represents the initials S.V.

Between 1954 and 1957, SecoVega also started to manufacture light motorcycles aimed at the popular 125cc category.  They produced 2 models, the Lujo (luxury) Popular and the Super Sport and contemporary reports would suggest that the names were rather flattering! The original single cylinder, 125cc (52mm x 58mm), air cooled, two stroke engine was designed in house by Hilario Seca.  The rolling chassis for each model had differences but the Super Sport in the photos was a simple cradle fitted with telescopic front suspension and hydraulic shock absorbers, while the rear featured a swingarm with springs and hydraulic shock absorbers.  

The in-house engine suffered from some reliability issues and SecoVega produced some machines with a Villiers 125cc unit in their later output.

After 1957, the production of motorcycles finished but they continued to produce sidecars.  Eventually, the workshop and business was sold to some of the workforce. 

The rare 1954 Super Sport Model shown in these photographs, was on display at the Mollerussa Expo Classic in September 2025.

There is some evidence that, after selling Talleres Mecánicos SV to members of the workforce, the original owners went on to form Industrias Zala S.L. in circa 1960. Based at km 316 de la Carretera de Madrid, in Zaragoza, this was a company for the manufacture of electrical appliances, including Lackey Washing Machines (Lavadora Lackey).
