RMH (Valencia 1961-1966)

The story of the RMH brand is rather unusual.  Rafael Mira e Hijos had a business on Avenida de José Antonio, Valencia from where he sold automotive and agricultural equipment.

In addition, he was a distributor of various motorcycle brands including Cofersa, Ducson and Setter.  When the Cofersa company started to wind down their operations before their eventual closure in 1962, Rafael Mira decided to launch his own brand, using his initials.

The RMH brand was created in 1961 and survived until 1966.  Their motorcycles were not built by Rafael Mira himself, instead he outsourced the process to Setter who manufactured both RMH models at their premises in Elche (Alicante) on Calle de Maximilià Thous.  The collaboration lasted from February 1963 until February 1965.

Some reference sources state that Setter delivered a complete rolling chassis to the RMH premises, who in turn, obtained and installed the Hispano Villiers engines.

This motorcycle was photographed at the Museo de la Moto y el Coche Clasico, 10700 Hervás (Cáceres)

The RMH was offered as either a 125cc or 200cc model, with Rafael Mira choosing to use the Hispano Villiers engines (the 10M 123cc or the 6M 197cc units).   The 125cc RMH and the 125cc Setter were almost identical, apart from the engine with the Setter using a slightly inclined unit of its own manufacture.

The recorded production output figures for the RMH and are given as follows:

Model A (125cc): 585 units.

Model M2 (200cc): 189 units.
