Following their lack of success with the Pony motorcycle, Urgell y Goma S.L., the manufacturer, sold and transferred the rights and tooling for their motorcycle to Manuel Peix, who was a rider for the brand and a mechanic who had his own workshop at, Carrer Sant Antoni Mª Claret 79, Barcelona.
With some modifications, he went on to launch the Rekord brand, using the Pony as an initial platform but the Rekord went on to be offered as a 125cc or 175cc, using Gnome et Rhone engines**

This example of the Rekord 175cc motorcycle was on display at Mollerussa (Catalonia) in September 2025.
The Rekord models featured air cooled, single cylinder, two stroke, engines either as a 125cc (55mm x 52mm = 123cc) with a claimed output of 6 HP @ 5,700 RPM or as a 175cc (60mm x 61mm = 173.50cc) with a claimed output of 9.5 HP @ 5,000 RPM. The bikes were fitted with a 3-speed gearbox with foot change and a steel tubular frame that featured front telescopic forks, with rear hydraulic shock absorbers.
Keen to enter competitive events, both for pleasure and to promote the brand, Manual Peix entered the prestigious Barcelona Montjuïc 24-hour race with a 175cc variant. Partnered by Pedro Rubies, Manual Peix made a failed attempt in 1957 but partnered by Eliseo Carrera, he qualified in 1958. They completed 444 laps, finishing 18th overall and 1st in the 175cc Class **

Manual Peix produced a good product, but he was hampered by a lack of financial support, and he eventually withdrew from motorcycle production in 1961 before closing the business finally in 1963.
However, he retained his competitive spirit and during the last 2 years he built and raced Karts using a Rekord engine. In 1961, with his co-driver Rodrigo, they finished 7th in the 200cc Class at the “Seis Horas de Karts de Barcelona” using a Rekord.

The overall production rate was estimated to be no more than one complete bike a month, so the total output would be between 50 or 60 units. They are a rare find.
