MOVESA (Motores y Vehículos S.A.), based in Vitoria and created in 1952, produced Peugeot motorcycles in Spain.
The first Peugeot Movesa was the 125cc, air cooled, two stroke single that was well received and sold well.
This model was manufactured between 1953 and 1957 as the 55TC and from then on as the 57TC in different versions of finish. In 1959, after 22,000 units of the 125cc models had been manufactured, the 150cc TB model was released, a robust 150cc machine with a sturdier frame.
This Type 55, 125cc, dates from 1954 and is on display at the “Made in Spain” Museum in Alcala de Henares, near Madrid.
The 150TB model was launched just as motorcycle demand in Spain went into a steep decline when cheap, microcars and small, affordable, cars (SEAT 600) came onto the market. From 1963 onwards, MOVESA focused solely on the production of mopeds, which they persevered with until 1983, when they withdrew from motorcycle production completely.
This 150TB is on display at the Sala Team Museum in Manresa, Catalonia
This Peugeot Movesa Trial SX5 dates from 1979. This is the Spanish version which, under Spanish regulations, did not have to be fitted with pedals. It was also unrestricted and had much better performance, with a top speed of 60-70 km/h and is on display at the “Made in Spain” Museum in Alcala de Henares, near Madrid.
