Manufacturas Mecániques Monfort, SL – with a facility at Francesc Macià Avenue. 97, Esparraguera, Catalonia. They had produced some parts for Aleu motorcycles and absorbed the firm when it went bankrupt in 1956. Monfort employed around 40 workers and, initially, produced the Aleu motorcycles under the Monfort name before going on to produce their own motorcycles for a few years. They also built an Enduro under the Alfer brand name for which they built the frames.
The Monfort motorcycle was a 125cc, air cooled, single cylinder, two stroke producing 5.2 HP, that was marketed in 2 variants – the “Basculante” and the “Rigidia”. Both models featured a three speed gearbox and delivered very similar performance with the main difference being rear suspension. The “Rigidia” had a single, sprung saddle and teloscopic rear suspension whereas the “Basculante” had a double one piece saddle and oscillating rear suspension.

This Monfort motorcycle was photographed at the Mollerussa Expo Classic 2025 where it was on display from the Museu de la Moto – Bassella
By 1960 they had ceased manufacturing Monfort brand motorcycles as they had been contracted by Bultaco to produce frames for them. This work continued until 1980 when they were awarded contracts for other brands, including Ossa and Merlin (Girona) until they finished in 1984.
