Iruña (Pamplona 1954-1957)

The Iruña 202 scooter essentially evolved from the Husor 201 scooter but with a series of modifications.  The Iruña 202 had a redesigned and more modern chassis with a lighter body.

The engine, a single cylinder, air cooled, two stroke of 125cc (121cc), was basically the Hispano Villiers Soriano unit.  It had a reduced power output of 5 CV which, coupled with its three-speed transmission, allowed speeds of up to 70 kph.   The rear suspension was uprated from a coil spring to a system with torsion bars.

The manufacturer – IMENASA (Industrias Metálicas de Navarra, SA) – was one of the companies created by Don Félix Huarte (1896-1971), a well-known industrialist from the Spanish province of Navarra.   IMENASA were increasingly active in a range of different industries and, partly because of these additional demands, they decided to halt the production of scooters in 1957.  So, after a short life of just 3 years and a production run of approximately 1,000 machines, the Iruña 202 was consigned to history.
