Colomet was a Spanish brand of motorcycle, manufactured in Palma (Mallorca) between 1949 and 1965 although more precise information about the manufacturers has been difficult to obtain. Jaume and Antoni Colomet were brothers who had their own automobile and motorcycle repair shop at Calle Honderos 49-51, in Palma de Mallorca. Over the years, they had begun to manufacture small engines for boats and, towards the end of the 1940s, they had expanded and developed their own moped.
In 1951, they presented a small 125cc motorcycle called the M51 that bore a remarkable resemblance to the BSA Bantam Model D1 of the time. The Bantam itself was introduced in 1948 and based on adesign that had been received as war reparations – the DKW RT 125 and the same basic design went into production in at least two, and perhaps four, other countries so the similarities are hardly a surprise.
In 1953, the M53 model appeared, with similar characteristics but with a more powerful, 150cc engine, which also coincided with the upgrade of the BSA Bantam to a 150cc option – the Model D3.
In 1954, the M54 model was introduced. For this they reverted to a 125cc engine but no further significant modifications were made and the brand had ceased operations by 1965.

Colomet family members have been quoted as having stated that the output of the brand amounted to approximately 500 machines, over its life. However, this is difficult to confirm as, for many years, small capacity machines did not have to be registered.
Wikipedia has a short article on the brand and has quoted production figures of: 1953: 14 units, 1954: 82 units, 1955: 39 units.
