A1 – About

Some time ago, I had asked a Spanish friend why there was so little information (and so few books) about the Spanish motorcycle industry available in English. His simple answer, “because you haven’t written it yet” was intended as a joke in many ways but it sparked an idea. Like a dog with a bone, I couldn’t leave it alone then and started a hunt to track down as many Spanish brands as I could find. I am at over 100 now and still searching.

I retired in 2018 and have spent a lot of time visiting motorcycle museums and collections throughout Western Europe. Originally, I was looking at putting together a book based on my many photos and the information that I had found but, as I am uncovering new details almost every week, I decided to aim for an online format, that can be easily edited and expanded as I find more brands.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Statement

All my photos are processed with Adobe Photoshop to balance colour and lighting and, occasionally, to remove clutter ie ropes and chains that are often used to segregate exhibits in museums etc. I do not use it to “modify” any of the motorcycles etc.

I do use AI (MS Copilot and/or Google Gemini) in specific circustances. This is to improve clarity and remove blemishes from old Newspaper and Magazine adverts and its use is included in the caption. I have also used it to clean old logos for use in the page headers for each brand. Again, I do not use it to “modify” any of the motorcycles etc.

This is not a commercial website, and I do not derive any income from it.  My contributions to various motorcycling publications and websites are made purely as an enthusiast.  Likewise, I do not cover my photographs with watermarks or copyright symbols, and I put them in the public domain so that other likeminded enthusiasts can see them.  If anybody wants to use them, all I ask is that I am credited as the source.

As a non-commercial website, I am responsible for the content and, to most extents, the layout.  If you see a glaring error (incorrect hyperlinks etc) please let me know.

This replica of the experimental 1955 MYMSA 125cc special was built at the MYMSA (Motores y Motos, S.A.) Collection in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana (Barcelona), where this photograph of me onboard it was taken in 2021.

I have added a page detailing my main Reference Books (virtually all are in Spanish) and on a separate page, a list of Museums (and/or collections) within Spain that I have visited.  I am indebted to the owners or directors of these as, in many cases, they have been flexible with their hours of access to accommodate my travelling down from SW France.

Navigation of this site should be fairly easy.  There are 4 pages that are, in effect, an index (A-F, G-M, N-S and T-Z) and clicking on the logos on those pages will take you to the page dedicated to that brand.

Finally, whilst this “project” has been primarily concerned with motorcycles, I have also included sidecars, motocarros and microcars, where a motorcycle manufacturer diversified into those products.
