“Talleres Edel”, based at Carrer Vilardell 7, Barcelona, was dedicated to automobile repair. In 1951 it started to develop a motorcycle to be shown at the 1952 Barcelona Show using the brand name “Taber” – the name of a nearby hill. This was the A-52 model, fitted with a Pons**, single cylinder, air cooled, two stroke of 125cc (123.67), with a four-speed gearbox, which delivered a claimed 5.5 CV at 5,250 RPM.

This very rare 1954 Taber B54 is on display at the Col’leccion Vehiculos Historicos “Vall de Guadalest” 03517 Guadalest (Alicante)
In 1953, they changed the engine for an “in house” unit and, at the end of the year, they launched a B54 version. There were some minor mechanical and cosmetic improvements to the existing model and the B54 now produced 5.8 CV at 5,250 RPM. Motorcycle production finished in 1955.

It has been difficult to find detailed information on this brand and some aspects of the history are odd. Developing and tooling up to produce their own “in house” engine would be very expensive on a small scale but these bikes are very rare, and their production run was very short.

**Construcciones Electromecánicas J,Pons of Barcelona manufactured a two stroke, 125 cc engine (54×54 mm) between 1952 and 1956. They could be supplied with or without a four speed, foot change gearbox. In addition to being supplied to Talleres Edel for the Taber, they were also used in some Kapi models.
